How to Properly Dispose of a Cigarette

The first step is making sure the cigarette is completely extinguished. Another important step is avoiding the habit of tossing cigarette butts into drains or bodies of water. Rain can carry these small pieces of waste into rivers and oceans, where they break down into microplastics and release toxic chemicals harmful to marine life and ecosystems.
